Rising tensions in the Middle East have become a focus of global attention due to ongoing conflicts and dynamic political changes. Various factors contribute to this situation, including geopolitics, ethnic conflict, and foreign intervention. One of the main causes of tension is rivalry between big countries, such as Iran and Saudi Arabia. This competition creates and widens the sectarian gap between Sunnis and Shiites, which can be seen in the conflicts in Yemen, Syria and Iraq. In Yemen, Iran supports the Houthis, while Saudi Arabia leads a coalition aimed at restoring the internationally recognized government. Calls for international alliances to resolve this conflict often end without a permanent solution, leaving the Yemeni people in a dire humanitarian situation. In Syria, the civil war that began in 2011 has attracted opposing foreign powers. Russia, backing Bashar al-Assad’s regime, and the US, along with its allies, have been engaged in battles against terrorist groups as well as each other. These tensions create space for extremist groups like ISIS to grow and spread, making the region increasingly unstable. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to increase tensions, with new attacks and military responses often causing discontent among the international community. The injustice felt by Palestinians and the US’s unbroken support for Israel results in mass protests and violence, creating a cycle of hatred that is difficult to break. Peace negotiations have frequently stalled, with key challenges including the status of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements, and refugees’ right of return. On the other hand, climate change and the economic crisis also smell of tension. Dwindling water resources and falling living standards often trigger protests and instability. Countries in the region are struggling with these challenges, which add layers of complexity to international relations. Meetings between countries and international forums such as the Arab League are also not effective enough in resolving long-standing disputes. In the midst of this increasing tension, the role of social media cannot be ignored. These platforms enable the rapid spread of information and propaganda, influencing people’s views on the conflict and increasing tensions between opposing groups. Better communication strategies and innovative diplomatic approaches are urgently needed to solve this problem. Global awareness of issues in the Middle East is increasing, but long-term solutions require strong cooperation between the countries involved. Encouraging dialogue between parties in conflict and creating effective communication channels can help reduce tensions. The world community is expected to be more involved in resolving this complex problem so that stability in the Middle East can be realized.
